A little quote

Though it is cloudy and spittingly raining, and my mind feels heavy and slow, and my soul maybe tilted a little off center, the scraps of nature given to me in Brooklyn feel very green and near and lend a fresh, damp sense of peace to my evening. This bit from Marguerite Yourcenar felt familiar. Simplicity!

When all the complicated calculations prove false, when the philosophers themselves have nothing more to tell us, we may be forgiven for turning to the meaningless twitter of the birds or to the distant counterweight of the stars.

For lack of the time, energy, and circumstance to put out a real garden this year, I planted some tomatoes and peppers in some big flower pots that I found.
I've been spending a lot of time with them.........
