Hello, people. :)
Thanks to Liz for the little "Earth To Amanda" in her last comment. I am still around, and I'm doing very well. My root canal was completed yesterday and I can't tell you the difference. I just need to get the other crown done and that tooth is complete. There are some other sort of troublesome ones that I'll be taking care of, but they don't hurt me right now, and I'm so grateful. Sorry if I sould like a 90 year old lady discussing my ailments...
Now, not only am I not in pain, but I have so much energy. I'd been feeling physically depressed, though okay in spirit for quite a while and just couldn't muster up the gumption to post much anywhere. I do have some things brewing and I just flooded Martin's site with comments on community. Please pray that way opens for the rest of the dental work with minimal complications and stuff.
This has been in my heart the past two days...
It happened at that time as Eli was lying down in his place (now his
eyesight had begun to grow dim and he could not see well),
and the lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down
in the temple of the LORD where the ark of God was,
that the LORD called Samuel; and he said, "Here I am."
Then he ran to Eli and said, "Here I am, for you called me." But he
said, "I did not call, lie down again." So he went and lay down.
The LORD called yet again, "Samuel!" So Samuel arose and went to Eli
and said, "Here I am, for you called me." But he answered, "I did not
call, my son, lie down again."
Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, nor had the word of the LORD yet
been revealed to him.
So the LORD called Samuel again for the third time. And he arose and
went to Eli and said, "Here I am, for you called me." Then Eli
discerned that the LORD was calling the boy.
And Eli said to Samuel, "Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you,
that you shall say, `Speak, LORD, for Your servant is listening.' " So
Samuel went and lay down in his place.
Then the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel!
Samuel!" And Samuel said, "Speak, for Your servant is listening."

Oh I missed the root canal. Youch! You're in my prayers.
And hold on that flooding till after I get the Advance Program online or no one's going to the FGC Gathering this year (I'm working as late as it takes tonight!).
Martin, that ol' tired Quaker Ranter
Glad to know you survived root canal. Thanks for the piece about Eli and Samuel, too. It makes me consider what and who(m) I am listening to, as well as whom I am to serve!
Here's a quote I recently came across, in Woolman's journal, which I crack open only occasionally these days:
The Lord I believe hath a people... who are honestly concerned to serve him, but many I fear are too much clogged with the things of this life and do not come forward bearing the cross in such faithfulness as the Almighty calls for.
Blessings,
Liz
