Gorilla snow angels

I'd like to thank God, the Universe, and Everything for this snow. This is the first real snow in the city this year. Last year I arrived to a city full of grey snow, tears from wind and other things freezing to my scarf constantly, for months and months.

This year the snow has come like a suspension of some bitter sentence, making me feel about five years old. I just got in, and my cheeks are tingling in a nearly forgotten way. As Scott, Lor and I were walking to the subway from band practice, I snowballed poor Lor in the hat (it was a beaut of a shot, but he has a right to never forgive me) and then, back in Brooklyn, I asked a perfect stranger in the street if it was a captial crime to snowball someone you didn't know. He lowered his head and ran away. I snowballed him but missed on purpose...he never even looked up. In the last three block stretch to home, I saw on the sidewalk an untouched Amanda-sized patch of snow. I couldn't help it - I, yes, I, sophisticated little Miss Amanda of the City laid down in an NYC street and made a snow angel. She was lovely, but the outline of the Big Ugly Parka added a certain, erm, simian touch. Still, the lines were graceful.

I think I will be ninety and love the snow like this.

... it is raining today, not snowing, that hat is long since retired, so much just flows past like melting snow, like rain water down the gutter... forgiveness remains. =) Hit me with a snowball whenever thee takes the notion, friend.
