I still feel like posterior but I think I am getting better. I just could not make it into work yesterday and have pretty much been in bed for almost 48 hours. I made it to the local cafe and bought some containers of good organic soup and like 50 bottles of vitamin water. I realized (because of massive leg cramps) that I had pretty seriously dehydrated and while getting a plain glass of H2O down is too much work, I will drink the silly rainbow water when I will drink nothing else. Good to do that before I got to the pedialyte or IV fluids stage. So about 3 gallons of brightly coloured nutrient-tinged water later and I think I am in better shape. I tried going to meeting this morning but bailed pretty fast. The kids left for first day school and I left for lying-under-the-covers-and-reading-blogs school. That's one thing I'll miss about living here...I only have to go up or down some stairs if I change my mind about going to meeting. No trudging through the cold.
Oh man, will I ever be trudging through the cold in about a week. I went ahead and put a deposit on some Very Sensible Winter Boots so that they'd order them in my size. The boots are not sexy or sporty and are probably more suited to the middle-aged but I needed something I could wear with professional clothes or jeans while walking 1.1 miles twice a day and these are just easy. Expensive as all hell, but easy. And hey, I can still wear them when I'm 40. They'll be just as stylish and age-appropriate. (those photos are kind of flattering, but really the boot looks like black leather knee-high galoshes. I just hope they are warm. To add to my attractive profile I've ordered them a little big so I can wear my super sexy double-knit wool men's socks under them. Pair these with my longjohns and I am going to be one hot cold-weather fashion model this season! Hoo yeah!)
Another sign of returning wellness is that I am typing comfortably with two hands and no brace. I was soooooo tired before that even my wrist ached and I couldn't deal so I was pecking everything out with the middle finger of my right hand. No disrespect intended.
PS. Tomorrow (at 9 am, wail...) I have another immigration appointment to get an appointment. Pray for me. Things are still complicated because of my two stupid last names.

Ah the misperceptions and follies of youth. Here's 40 year old wear, cheap as all hell and after only a week of scuff marks the picture will look nothing like the shoe.
Some of us unfashionable old people do enjoy that rainbow water though. "Focus," "Energy" and "Essential" are my mainstays. Good luck with immigration. I recently skated through what should have been an IRS nightmare so may that luck attend you tomorrow morning.
Hey kiddo, leg cramps... this REALLY works... a tablespoon of apple cider vinager before going to bed... really does work.
Crappy week over here, an old friend wrote me a really meanspirited note, accusing me of stealing the hawk story. I sent him my entire notes, emails with experts showing the paper trial and time line, and he's written even more crap. Seems there is another eejit throwing bricks every day.
But, well, we keep on keeping on. I was too depressed about all the bickering to get to meeting this AM. That's rare.
But, tommorow back to work and things should be a little brighter (even with the rain).
Here is my magic cough remidy... keep some take out containers of hot and sour soup in the fridge. Every so often nuke one in the microwave, knock it back hot, then take a hot tub and sweat out the gunk in thy lungs. Even if it doesn't work, at least it is a good excuse to eat a lot of hot and sour soup and soak in a hot tub.
Feel better soon...

lol Martin, you've got me.
I don't know if those boots would go with my bonnet, though. ;)
"Balance" is my fav. That and the lemonade one.
Lor, what I wouldn't give for a bathtub! The hot and sour soup is a good thing, though.
The boots are great.........somehow I don't think you'll be mistaken for a Cabela girl in them though. *grins*
My friend (a real "shoe-person") swears by this site.
Enjoy
I'm so old that I can't make the html for the link work, but for boots you really want John Fluevog of Seattle

WHAT A WEEK!!! Had my main external hard drive, and the back up hard drive fall of my desk, and both were ruined. Bother! Lost about 6 months of work, gone forever, into the either, BUT! Well, back to work, back to the drawing board... no sniffles... stiff upper limbs, I mean lip... Check out the flickr site from Ryan's wedding forward ... ALL GONE! But, hey... I've learned something.. BOLT YOUR HARD DRIVES TO THE DESK!!!
=)
Life never WAS easy... the trick is to learn to enjoy the bad times (without irony)
HOPE YER FELLING BETTER!
(or digging being ill)
Hope some one comes and makes thee some chicken soup! I can put some on the bus from china town... =)

If the photos are on flickr then your harddrive will not affect them at all, just pull them off the website and ta da
Thanks anony:
Trouble is I post them at half the resolution. I also don't post all...
Ah well... can look back, we have to look ahead.
Amanda, glad to hear you are getting better. I am sorry to tell you that by rural Vermont standards, those are actually both sexy and sporty winter boots. Of course, anything with more of a defined shape than felt lined Sorrels would fit that qualification here. (We've sort of given up on stylish, or even comfortable indoor winter boots around here, and just change to shoes after arriving at work.)
Well, Tim, I am going to take that as a tremendous compliment on my boots! Which haven't made it in yet, though the winter weather had!
Amanda, yes it actually is a compliment, in my usual highly indirect fashion. Good luck with the pre-boot arrival winter.
Tim
