I missed a Saturday post by one minute. I could cheat and turn the time back on the post but that's not fair.
I had a day very full of friends and a new little feathered friend who does not like me very much as yet and has no name. But he has a big beautiful cage and may eventually forgive me for abducting him from parakeet paradise in a small takeout box.
I am deadly tired, eating watermelon (not green! except on the outside) and reading I Know This Much Is True, a veryvery sad and veryvery good novel by Wally Lamb about a middle-aged man and his schizophrenic identical twin brother...and much more. It is such a good book and such a long book that I am constantly clutching the pages and wishing loudly in my head "don't mess it up! don't mess it up!" I am not sure what I am more afraid of, some sunshiny plot twist, or some melodramatic tragedy when the book is already pretty much pure tragedy.
I smell and need a shower. Yucky.
Pretty much all my friends and compatriots have now fled to NEYM. I can't make it this year, as I said, just too many things going on. I'm feeling pretty sad about it tonight though it was the right decision. But I am praying for them and their very difficult work this year. If you have an extra prayer or thought, I am sure they'd be glad of it, too.
As would I.

I'd have caught you trying to crib on your posting time..........I don't sleep much either.
*smiles*
Last night I figured if I was going to be miserable and tired all night I could do that out walking around.
I still can't sleep but now I know why I'm miserable and tired.......my feet hurt and I walked 6 miles........somehow it's easier to take when I know why a thing is.
Rather pissy day, meself, yesterday, not worth telling why, but, two very dear Quaker Friends called at 9:30 to ask if I wanted to come out and play... which, I did, and was really happy for it...
Amanda with a Parakeete! Perect! Now, thee knows what to be for next halloween, if it is warm enough... Amanda the Pirate Queen... arrrr... (if it is warm enough )
Just in case Berk reads this, let me correct the above... for the "next day which some who are not Quakers call halloween... "
Our crowd is getting back from YM this weekend. I must push myself into a shower and force myself to Meeting this morning... our Meeting House can be a bit of a burden in the hot and stuffy weather. When I was a kid we had fans on the seats, grean palm shaped fans with wooden handles... could use them again!
Enjoy the book, hope all works out well in it. Genie bought me "Wicked" for me birthday, and read about a quarter of it to me, as we drove back from Canada, I hope to finish the book I am reading soon, to see how Wicked comes out... I understand he has written a third book about the Cowardly Lion... yummm. Ryan, loved the play, Wicked, and is getting married to Molly in two weeks. It looks like I will be riding the dog out west for his wedding... was going to drive, no cash, so I thought maybe fly... less cash... train... N.C., so my present plans are Grey Hound, though I am trimming my thumb nails, just in case. =)
Remember the joke about the parrot and the minister... and avoid take out chicken from now on!!!
Happy First Day, peaceful meeting, and best to the Parakeete

You know how much I love the budgies. I can't wait to meet the little fluffball in person. Maybe one day I will finally get that guinea pig I want, and we can have interspecies playdate.
